Private Client Advisor

Robert grew up on a large and isolated sheep station in the western division of NSW. Like many children in this community he completed his secondary education away at boarding school - All Saints College in Bathurst.

In 1989 Robert was fortunate to gain employment with KPMG in Sydney where he established his strong knowledge of SME business issues and taxation. During those formative years he developed a keen interest advising business owners and their families on their accounting and taxation affairs. In 1992 Robert completed the post graduate qualifications set by the Institute of Chartered Accountants and became a Chartered Accountant. Following nomination by his peers Robert was appointed a Fellow of the ICAA in 2003.

In 1994 Robert returned to the Orange and Bathurst regions to take up an opportunity with a large regionally based accountancy firm offering extensive business advisory and audit services. His client base was very broadbased looking after farming and grazing clients through to professionals such as doctors and everything else in between! It was during this time he became increasingly attracted to the financial advisory profession and in 2001 joined a small but dedicated financial advisory business in Orange.  He established a sizeable clientele following which was later transferred to his business colleagues in late 2008 when he relocated to Sydney.

During this period in Orange Robert was involved in the business community through membership of the local Chamber of Commerce and promoting the local primary producers via the FOOD Inc. (Food of Orange District) group committee which holds the bi annual celebration of quality food production, local produce and wine every April and October. With his young boys in tow and being an avid supporter of Rugby Union he also assisted the local Emus Rugby club with co-coaching activities for the under 8s and under 10s. In 2004 he also was elected as a committeeman onto the Western Chapter of the Financial Planning Association supporting the activities of the chapter in the Central West of NSW.

In all aspects, whether as a professional accountant or financial adviser, what was most important was the opportunity to build strong advisory relationships with his clients, relationships that have been enduring to this day.  Robert is committed to partnering his clients and supporting them in achieving their goals.

From early 2009 to July 2011 Robert operated as a small financial advisory practice based in Baulkham Hills. It became apparent there was developing a need amongst the business community for more attention to and higher level estate and business succession strategy advice and offered this unique service to his clients. Due to increased compliance and regulations impacting the financial advisory industry and the unfortunate GFC timing it was evident this service would be best placed within an established financial advisory practice.

In 2010 recognising the importance of being involved and supporting the local business community he became a member of the Sydney Hills Business Chamber increasing his interaction with like-minded business professionals in mentoring and supporting other members whether they are in a start up phase or running a fully fledged business. He also became an active supporter and committeeman of the Western Sydney Sub Chapter of the Financial Planning Association.

In August 2011, Robert joined with Strategic Wealth Solutions (SWS), knowing that doing so would offer his clients better support, infrastructure and stability for the future.  SWS also provided Robert with an environment to further develop his skills and experience and to work with a highly professional and motivated team.

Robert’s greatest passion is his family. He has 3 boys still at school and this combined with their various weekend sporting activities leads to a very busy life. Robert is also recently re-married; his wife Shari being very much involved in the show horse scene as a qualified judge.
With his boys athletic pursuits his winter weekends are spent on the sidelines of the soccer and rugby paddocks and in the summer with visits to the beach or catching up with friends for barbeques and fun.
